Horace Fred "Ted" Gregg, age 86, of Blackberry Inn Road died Friday, September 20, 2013.

Mr. Gregg was born December 30, 1926, in Buncombe County where he had lived all of his life. He was formerly employed with Farmers Federation as a meat cutter, the Gerber Plant, and manager of the B & R Restaurant, and was retired from Kinco Industrial as a foreman for the storm door line. Ted was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War. He loved his family, fishing, hunting, and his dogs. Ted's door was always open to anyone. He was the son of the late Noble E. and Sue Mundy Gregg and was also preceded in death by his brother Robert Winfield "Bob" Gregg.

Surviving are his sons, William E. "Bill" Gregg and wife Liz of Mars Hill, James Martin Gregg of Weaverville, and Fred Noble "Teddy" Gregg and wife Marti of Woodfin; daughter, Carol Sue Everson of Asheville; sisters, Cathy Stirewalt of Weaverville, Edna Grace Whitt of Raleigh, Florence Willis of Mars Hill, and Virginia Crawford of Weaverville; grandchildren, Cameron, Lucas, and Emelia Gregg, Chrissy Lee and husband Ty, Martin Gregg Jr. and wife Desi, and Saxton Shelton; great grandchildren, Devon, Dylan, and Danica.

His funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, September 26, 2013, in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Ave., Weaverville with Chaplain D.J. Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Brank Cemetery with Military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #5483, Mars Hill Memorial Team.
