Martha married her moon and stars, Gordon Reed, in 1967 and enjoyed 52 years of marriage. A loving mother to her daughter, Beth, and devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews. Martha enjoyed traveling, laughter, and showcasing artistic talent in a variety of crafts, most of which she gave to those she loved. She and Gordon participated in the walk to Emmaus through the First United Methodist Church. Earning a Bachelor’s degree from Birmingham Southern College and a Master’s degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham empowered Martha’s passion for teaching. She spent 35 years loving and inspiring “her kids” at Sumiton Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, D.D. and Beulah Cupps; siblings, Robert Cupps, Cecil Cupps, William Cupps, Shelby Cupps Gunter, Roger Cupps and Bodie Cupps.
