Roy Morris “June” Bennett, age 79 of Petersburg, WV passed away Sunday, December 29, 2019 in his home while under the care of hospice.

He was born July 22, 1940 in Petersburg, WV, a son of the late Morris Clay Bennett and Annie Mae (Reel) Bennett. In addition to his parents, Roy was preceded in death by one sister, Margarite Heavner; one brother, Henry C. Bennett, one step- daughter, Tina Moore, one step grandson, Tyler Moore and one step great grandson, Max Nettles.

“June” is survived by his wife of 42 years, Beulah A. “Bea” (Simmons) Bennett; one son, Larry Bennett of Maysville, WV, one daughter, Kala (Cole) Border of Brandywine, MD; one step son, Bill (Nancy) Moore of Maysville, WV; three granddaughters, Jessica, Emily and Megan all of Maryland; one sister, Alice (Ralph)Walters of Petersburg, WV, one brother, Chester (Brenda) Bennett of Knoxville, TN; one step granddaughter, seven great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

“June” was a truck driver for D & W Trucking in Parsons, WV. He later worked for Radio Shack in Petersburg until his retirement. He attended Corner United Methodist Church in Cabins, WV.

According to his wishes, Roy's body will be cremated and a Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, January 3, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the Schaeffer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Gerstell officiating.
