He was known for his musical talents, playing the guitar and piano by ear. He also loved going to concerts and liked to go fishing in his younger years.
John is survived by his mother, Norma Capps Haney of Indianapolis; daughters, Casidy Capps and Megan Capps, both of Indianapolis; siblings, Laura (Timothy) Bellinger of Indianapolis, Daniel Capps of Indianapolis, William Capps and Randall Capps, both of London, Kentucky, and Harold Capps of Indianapolis; as well as a host of aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Randall Capps.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon January 3, 2019 at Simplicity Funeral & Cremation Care - 7520 Madison Avenue, Indianapolis, where services will be conducted at 12:00 noon. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Greenwood.
