Daniel Joseph McAllister, 93, of Bemidji, MN died Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Havenwood Care Center in Bemidji.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji with Rev. Genelle Netland officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Evergreen Cemetery in Backus, MN under the direction of the Cease Family Funeral Home in Bemidji.

Dan was born June 8, 1926 in Pine River, MN the son of Joseph and Katie (Bogart) McAllister. He was raised in Backus and Lake George, attending school in Laporte and Backus, graduating from Backus High School in 1945. He married Corrine Louise Noble on Dec. 28, 1945 in Backus, MN. They moved to Bemidji in 1948, they had 4 children Joe, Donna, Alan, and Debra. He was a railroad conductor and brakeman for the Northern Pacific and later Burlington Northern Railroad from May 1945 to August 1985 except for 2 years when he served our country during WW II in the US Army Air Corps in Germany from 1944 to 1947. Dan was baptized on June 17, 1964 at Calvary Lutheran Church and was a member for 62 years and served in various ways. He was a jack of all trades as he could repair all kinds of appliances and vehicles and loved to help anyone that needed it. He loved to hunt, fish, and was an avid water skier. He was a member of the American Legion, Bemidji Water Ski Club, and the Retired Railroad Workers Group.

He is survived by his wife Corrine of Bemidji,

Alan (Cindy) McAllister of Laporte,
Debra (Shayne) Bock of Bemidji, MN,
8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren,
a sister Marian “Mickey” (Robert) Mechelke of Akeley, MN,
4 brothers Pete (Virginia) McAllister of Lake George, MN,
Walt (Jeanette) McAllister of Lake George, MN,
Twins Jerry and Gary Palm of Brainerd and Minneapolis,
and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Ruth McAllister, sister Jean Thomas, 2 infant brothers Jerry & Baby McAllister and brother-in-law Lee Thomas.
