Coeburn, VA ~ Jeanette Opal Baker, 85, entered into her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
She was an amazing and loving mother and mamaw. Her legacy will live on through all the love she shared. Her love with serve as a guiding light leading her family onward.
She was the daughter of the late Wiley James Peak and Mildred "Lula" Penley Peak; also preceded in death by her loving husband, Edwin 'Pete' Baker, a son, Alfred Baker, four sisters, Bonnie Quesenberry, Minnie Hall, Shirley Overby and Hazel Laney, four brothers, Curtis, Oscar, Billy Joe and Clyde Peak; granddaughter, Mildred Paige.
She is survived by; two sons, Danny Ray Laney and companion (Dena) and special friend (Reda Powers), John (Elsie) Baker, all of Coeburn; five daughters, Kathy Paragon, Jody (Bobby) Sherrill, Bonnie (Homer) Sexton, Leatha (Doug) Cochrane, all of Coeburn, Jennie (Tim) Mathes of Ft. Blackmore; a sister, Linda Turner of Kingsport, TN; 20 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 after 5:00 p.m. at Estes Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Flatwoods Freewill Baptist Church with Brothers Danny Darnell and Rodney Deel officiating. Music will be provided by Timmy Craiger. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Burial will follow at the Laney Cemetery on High Knob. Arrangments by Estes Funeral Home, 114 High Ave., Coeburn, VA.
