Beloved husband of the late Jennie (nee Pagnoni) of 58 years. Survived by his loving children Samuel J. Jr. (Margaret), Karen Marinelli (Ronald), and David J. Sr. (Karen); his cherished grandchildren David Jr., Paul, Laura, Heather and Samantha; his sidekick Max; and his devoted sister Theresa Morris.
Sam was the youngest of 12 children, growing up in Southwest Philadelphia (Our Lady of Angels Parish). He was a lifelong member of the Philadelphia Carpenters Local Union 158 and co-owner of Mars Drywall.
Sam always had a smile on his face and a joke for everyone who would listen. He enjoyed walks with his dog, woodworking at Dunwoody woodshop specializing in cradles for newborns, and making pizzelles for his family and friends. He was a beloved father and grandfather and shared many memories with his family. Some of which were Sunday dinners, vacations at the Jersey Shore, and watching our Eagles. His greatest thrill was that he got to see his beloved birds win the Super Bowl!
Sam was a Veteran of the Korean War with the rank of Army Staff Sergeant. He was an active member of his community and served as an officer of the Marple Newtown Combined Veterans Alliance Post 805. Sam participated as an Honor Guard in hundreds of graveside military funerals and other veteran activities. He was recognized by the Delaware County Veteran Memorial Association in 2016 with the Freedom Medal, their highest honor for volunteer Veteran services.
