Sherry Lee (Jones) Jones, age 80 of Vonore, Tennessee, passed away peacefully Thursday morning, December 26th, 2019.

Sherry was born in Provo, UT to the late Iliff Max Seerie and Mary Nadine (Duke) Jones. After graduating college with an Associate’s degree, Sherry spent her early career working as a teacher’s aide in Texas. She later went on to earn her real estate broker’s license, a career she excelled at and truly enjoyed, rising to VP at a prominent real estate firm, and eventually starting her own firm.

She and husband, Sam, moved frequently during his career with the DOD and Sherry was always quick to meet new friends and assimilate her family into their new community. Her talents as an artist, seamstress, gardener, decorator and homemaker allowed her to transform each house into a beautiful home, cherished by her family.

As comfortable as she was in the office, home and garden, she was also an avid outdoorswoman. Sherry was very fond of the time she spent as a young adult, hunting, fishing and camping with her family and friends.

She and Sam eventually retired and moved to the Rarity Bay community outside of Knoxville, TN in 2001. One of the initial families to build in Rarity Bay, Sherry jumped right in as a community greeter. Sherry was an active, vibrant and outgoing member of the community and made everyone she met feel as welcome as an old friend. She enjoyed being a member of the Women’s Club and the various card and social clubs. She was a great cook and loved to entertain and socialize with her friends in Rarity Bay. Sherry worked with various charities, especially dear to her was Meals on Wheels.

Her life was a living example of a selfless daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. There is nothing “Grammy” wouldn’t do for her family, often going to great lengths to get a special gift or make a favorite meal, for one of her precious grandchildren’s birthdays or a holiday. One of Sherry’s greatest joys was having family home for Christmas. She decorated every inch of the house and created family traditions such as gingerbread house decorating competitions and visits from Jingles the elf. While our family will continue these cherished traditions, they will never quite be the same without Grammy’s special touch.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was pre-deceased by a great grandchild.

She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years, Samuel J. Jones, Vonore, TN; children and spouses, Candilyn and Gregory Newell, Provo, UT, Ty Rustin Jones, Vonore, TN and Tomica and Kirk Bukowski, Cohasset, MA; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, Timothy and wife, Nancy Jones, Phoenix, AZ, and numerous extended family and friends.

A service of honor and remembrance will be scheduled and announced in the Spring of 2020.
