She was born in Winchendon on May 8, 1934. Her parents were Agilas A. Caouette and Marie Ann (Poitras) Caouette, and she was a lifelong resident of Winchendon.
She is survived by her son, Richard P. Carpenter Jr and his wife Suzanne of Winchendon and a sister, Rolande Roy of Peterborough, NH, and her grandchildren, Brandon Wightman and his wife Amy Beth, Kristen Batchelder and her husband Bobby, Eric L’Etoile and his wife Erin, Jason L’Etoile and his fiancé Heather Morrow, Stephanie Pervier and her husband Brad, Craig L’Etoile and his fiancé Liz Crosby, all of Winchendon, Heather Williams and her husband Jon of Leominster and Ross L’Etoile and his girlfriend Tricia Betourney of Westminster and a son-in-law, Michael E. L’Etoile of Winchendon. She had 10 great grandchildren and five step great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Richard P. “Dick” Carpenter and a daughter, Susan M. L’Etoile. Also preceding her in death were her brothers, Sylvio M. Caouette and Armand N. Caouette, and her sisters Rose Lafortune and Lucienne Smith.
She was a bookkeeper for her husband’s business, the former Carpenter’s Service Station for many years and worked as a clerk for the US Postal Service for over 25 years at many area post offices before her retirement. She was active in many civic and religious organizations and was currently a member of the Winchendon Garden Club. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Baldwinville and also Immaculate Heart of Mary in Winchendon where she periodically taught CCD classes over the span of several decades.
She was devoted to her faith and her family and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren. She was kind, loving, caring and generous and will be missed by many.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 10:00 AM in Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 52 Spruce Street, Winchendon.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. in Stone-Ladeau Funeral Home, 343 Central Street, Winchendon.
Burial will be held at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her honor to St. Vincent de Paul or Immaculate Heart of Mary Parishes or to the Murdock Friends of Music.
