Bob L. Dean, 69, of Jonesville, VA passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Hospice House in Bristol, TN.
A native of Lee County, he was born December 25, 1950 to the late George Aubra Dean and Cleta Woodard Dean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Aubra Paul Dean, a nephew, Artie Dean, and two unborn grandsons.
Bob was a coal miner at heart, and loved the coalfields. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid gun collector who enjoyed hunting deer and turkey as well as fishing in the lake. Bob loved his church, Freedom of Worship Center, and most of all, he loved his Lord.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 50 years, Kathy Bales Dean; three daughters, Bobbie Jo Thompson and husband Matthew, Jackie Sue Shepherd and husband James, and Kelley Aldridge and husband Shane; seven grandchildren, Caleb Thompson and wife Morgan, Cory Thompson and wife Candace, Cari Evans and husband E.J., Latchlon Aldridge, Taft Aldridge, Huxley Aldridge and Timber Kate Aldridge; eight great-grandchildren, Kinsley, Rhett, Max, Raylin, Brantley, Peyton, Cayten, Hazely, and one more great-grandchild on the way; one sister, Cheryl Poe and husband Dane; two brothers, Lonnie Dean and wife Nyoka, and James Dean and wife Barbara; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, at Robinette Funeral Home in Jonesville. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Matthew Thompson and Rev. Randy Aldridge officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 31, in the Garrett Family Cemetery in Jonesville. Those who wish may meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to travel in procession to the cemetery.
