FRANCES HUDSON, 90, of Arcola, IL passed away at 11:20 A.M. on Friday, December 27, 2019 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Walnut Grove Christian Church, 12930 E CR 1700 N in rural Arcola, IL. Pastor Steven Stern will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, January 6, 2020 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 E. Main, in Arcola, IL.

Frances was born on March 13, 1929 in Humboldt, IL. She was a daughter of George Earl and Dora Belle (Wangler) Bumpus. She married Robert G. “Bob” Hudson on October 12, 1947 at the Walnut Grove Christian Church in rural Arcola, IL. He passed away on December 28, 2011.

She is survived by five children, Susan Foster of Arcola, IL, Dan (Becky) Hudson of Charleston, IL, Nancy (David) Boyer of Arcola, IL Carol (Dean) Nelson of Charleston, IL and LuAnne (Clinton) Fleenor of Mattoon, IL; sixteen grandchildren, Noel Hutton of Hindsboro, IL, Earl (Julie) Hutton of Arcola, IL, Fred Hudson of Tempe, AZ, Elizabeth Jakobsson of Windsor, IL, Amanda (Mark) Kishel of Muncie, IN, Joe (Monica) Hudson of St. Mary’s, OH, George (Haley) Hudson of Paduka, KY, Rachel (Shane) Beever of Charleston, IL, Kermit (Natalie) Boyer of Charleston, IL, Stephanie (Chris) Combs of Ramsey, IL, Hannah (Matt) Crnkovich of Windsor, IL, Christy Huckleberry of Arcola, IL, Shawn (Christa) Seaman of Charleston, IL, Matt Fleenor of Gering, NE, Kelly Foster of Champaign, IL and Paul Foster of Champaign, IL; twenty-seven great-grandchildren, Cody Hutton, Zac Hutton, Maxine Hutton, Cole Hutton, Lucas Hutton, Kyla Hutton, Jackson Green, Emily Hudson, Creed Hudson, Gunner Jakobsson, Hudson Kishel, Charlotte Kishel, Remington Hudson, Anna Hudson, Hope Beever, Faith Beever, Patience Beever, Alex Hoshauer, Landon Hoshauer, Waylin Hoshauer, Jayde Hoshauer, Maddux Crnkovich, Cory O’Keefe, Chelsea Huckleberry, Shelby Huckleberry, Grayson Seaman and Colton Seaman; two great-great-grandchildren, Remington White and Abilene White; one brother, Robert “Mac” (Pansy) Bumpus of Charleston, IL; one sister-in-law, Sue Bumpus of Mooresville, IN and several nieces and nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons-in-law, Duane Duzan and Bud Foster, one grandson-in-law, Garret Jakobsson, and one brother, Fred Bumpus.

Frances was a 1946 graduate of Humboldt High School. She attended Eastern Illinois Teachers College for one year.

She owned and operated Hudson Flower and Card Shop in Arcola, IL from 1970 to 1980.

She was a member of Walnut Grove Christian Church, where she served as an active Charter Member of the Eunice Club and she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a Life Member of the Sarah Bush Lincoln Volunteer Guild. She was also a member of the Arcola Women’s Club, the Douglas County Home Extension and the Coles County Home Extension. She served as a Coles County 4-H Leader for over 20 years, she was an avid reader, she enjoyed traveling and has been to Brazil, England, Mexico, Canada and throughout the United States.

She enjoyed being with family and friends and was able to keep up with them through facebook and the internet. Frances Mother five children and Mom to many.

Memorials may be made to the Arcola Public Library or the Walnut Grove Christian Church.
