Katherine King, 89, passed away peacefully at her Kirklin home on Wednesday, December 25, 2019 with loved ones by her side. Katherine was born on October 9, 1930 to James & Ruby (Bennett) Stowers and lived most of her 89 years in Kirklin, Indiana. She had lived and experienced more that she ever dreamed she would.

Katherine/Gram was known for her love of people and knew no strangers. Her home was always open to friends and family. She was a wonderful grandmother. Watching for different birds gave her lots of joy. She was a member of the Kirklin American Legion Auxiliary Unit 310, where she carried the first auxiliary flag in a parade, loved raising money through poppy sales. She was the force behind money raised for a permanent monument in the Stowers Cemetery and finding and replacing the missing sundial in front of the local Kirklin Library. Her legacy will live on in Kirklin forever as she was responsible for assigning the house numbers to every house in Kirklin.

Katherine’s life will be cherished forever in the lives of her children, Mark (Sandi) King of Phoenix, AZ, Jill (Greg Henderson) Otis and Gina King, both of Kirklin, Ind., her grandchildren Jessica Kirby, Sherry (Kevin) Lunsford, Sean (Amber) Otis, Tasha (Matthew) Redder, Jamie King, Tim King, Jade (Jonathan Bourne) Myers, and Evan Dinger, along with 16 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, sisters, Barbara Hubeli of Frankfort and Carolyn Clements of Kirklin, nieces, nephews and many friends near and far.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Junior King, son-in-law, Jeff Otis, niece, Fran Shipley Jaggers, whom she raised as a daughter, several brothers, sisters and close friends.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, January 6, 2020 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, January 7, 2020 which was the day of her husband’s passing in 2007 at the funeral home. Matt Redder (grandson-in-law) will officiate.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Kirklin.
