John L. Moyer, Sr., 84, of Tremont passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2019 in Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Pine Grove on December 03, 1935, he was a son of the late Tennyson and Stella (Hand) Moyer.

John graduated in 1953 from Tremont High School.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and served seven years with the Air National Guard.

John was a retired Carpenter with Pine Grove Homes and worked with the Fire Crew at the Big Diamond Race Track for over nineteen years.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Tremont.

John was a member of the Tremont Fire Company for over thirty years where he served with the Fire Police; the Tremont Community Organization, the Tremont Senior Citizens, President and Trustee of the former Tremont Lions Club, the Black Rock Hunting Club, and the former Tremont American Legion.

He served as a Judge of Elections in the Tremont Boro and a Republican Committee Representative for many years.

John enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Ruth "Cookie" Ossman; and, his brothers: Robert Moyer and Joseph Moyer.

John is survived by his wife of sixty-two years: Eva (Fushey) Moyer; his sons: John L. Moyer, Jr. of Allentown and Lewis T. Moyer of Tremont; his granddaughter: Valerie K. (Nicholas) Stepanoff of Bethlehem; his great-granddaughter: Olivia Nicole Stepanoff; his sisters: Joan Harmon of Valley View, Helen Shadle of Mollystown, Susie Fulkroad of Halifax, Jean Klinger of Lavelle, Patsy Holtzlaw of South Carolina, and Beverly Weller of Orwigsburg; his brothers: Donald Moyer of Utah and Raymond Moyer of Tremont; and, his nieces and nephews.

A first Viewing will be held from 06:00 - 08:00 PM on Monday, December 30, 2019 in Dimon Funeral Home, Incorporated, Tower City.

A second Viewing will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in the funeral home. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Krista Roehrig officiating.

Interment in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at 12:30 PM.
