Of Jackson, Missouri went to her Heavenly home on December 26, 2019 at 11:00 PM. She was born March 7, 1926 in Neodesha, Kansas, the daughter of Samuel Mayo and Hattie Ann (Hutcherson) Clifton. Mom married the love of her life, Robert Warren Wilson on May 11,1947.
She was employed by the U.S. Air Force for 14 years. She first worked at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas and later transferred to the Air Force offices at Boeing, Co. The Wilson family moved to Jackson in 1967. During her working years in Missouri, she was employed by Cape Radiology and Drs. Kasten, McGinty, and Hunt. Mom retired in 1989 from the state of Missouri after working as a family caseworker.
During her working years she was active in the Cape County Medical Secretaries Association and Business, Professional Women Association (BPWA) and held various offices in each organization. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson. Mom loved singing and music and was a member of the Sanctuary and Joy choirs for many years. At one time she taught Sunday School. Many of the costumes in the annual Easter pageant were made by her. She was a self taught seamstress and loved working with the pageant cast members. Not only did she love sewing but crocheting as well. She loved making afghans and gave many away as gifts. Mom also enjoyed a good mystery book and was an avid reader.
Surviving are 2 daughters: Linda Engelmann of Cape Girardeau and Barbara Wilson of Columbia, 2 grandchildren: Heather (Matt) Carey of Jonesboro, Illinois and Derek Engelmann of Vale, Oregon, a step-grandson, Bruce Engelmann of Springdale, Arkansas, a niece, Shirley Schafer of Wichita, Kansas and her four daughters, 2 great-grandsons; Robbie Farrow, and Garrett Engelmann, 2 great-granddaughters; Bella and Ava Engelmann, a great-great granddaughter, Corrina Farrow and a great-great grandson, Benson Lyn; and 3 step-great grandchildren of Springdale, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister, two brothers, and a daughter, Cheryl Crites.
There will be no visitation and a private family service
