Carolyn Faye Smith Duncan, 76, of Marietta, passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019. She is predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Inez Smith and sister, Anita Smith Davis.
Mrs. Duncan is survived by her loving husband Chuck Duncan of Marietta; son, Jimmy Duncan and his wife, Kristy; daughter, Christen Salamone and husband, Aaron, and three granddaughters; three sisters Jane Smith; Lynda Werntz (Gilly); Barbara Mordecai (Billy); two brothers, Fred Smith (Connie); John Smith (Martha) and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Mrs. Duncan was born in Savannah, Georgia and graduated from Savannah High School. She then went on to work in the bookkeeping and trust departments for Liberty National Bank in Savannah, eventually moving to Atlanta where she continued to work in the trust department for Trust Company of Georgia. While living in Atlanta, she met the love of her life, Chuck Duncan, and they were married in 1971. They had two children, Jimmy and Christen, and she transitioned from the banking world into the full time job as a mother and homemaker. She served in many ministries in her church, Powers Ferry UMC, along with volunteering for PTA, helping with little league, swim team, and numerous activities that comes along with raising children. She enjoyed bowling, arts & crafts, traveling, spending time with family, volunteering at the Marietta Welcome Center, and being an amazing grandmother to her granddaughters and grand dogs.
A celebration of Carolyn’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Powers Ferry United Methodist Church (245 Powers Ferry Road SE) in Marietta. The interment will follow at Kennesaw Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 13 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta.
