" Elizabeth was married to Adam Hemply and had two sons, Edward and Adam:
one daughter, Classic Ann. After the death of her first husband, she married John P. Martin and had five children. Elizabeth, my mother, well deserved the love of her offspring for she tried to train them right, and did her part well. She was sociable and kind to all about her liked to have her neighbors and friends to come to her home. Blessed be her memory! She died 18th July 1864 while I was a prisoner of war on Morris Island (see his account) in the stockade. John P Martin, my father, with his twin brother, Thomas, was brought to S.C. in infancy from Virginia by his grandmother High, his mother having died. He was a cabinetmaker by trade, and a good one. He was robust and healthy, physically a man: but few could handle him. He worked at the trade as long as he could see to work, his sight being destroyed by cataracts. He was totally blind for several years before his death, which occurred in his 85th year, 1891.'The candle of Life burned down and went out. He expressed a willingness to depart, saying he was ready. His body rests by the side of my mother in the Bomar burying ground."

From booklet "EDWARD BOMAR" by Thomas B Martin 1900
From the History of Spartanburg Co by J B 0 Landrum 1900:
"Among the early families that settled in the vicinity of Old Fort Prince after the close of the Revolution were the Highs, Bomars, Woods, Bushes....and others. These families all emigrated from Virginia. They and their ancestors belonged to that class, before the Revolution in Virginia, known as Dissenters Church of England"
