They were divorced November 12, 1968. Ben then married Dianne L. Gruen in San Bernardino, California on May 17, 1969. No children were born to this union. They were divorced May 8, 1970. Ben then married Janet Elaine (Fields) Baney, Hepner on September 11, 1970. To this union, one son, Ben Bob Mitchell, Jr. was born July 28, 1971. They were divorced June 6, 1989. Ben then married Judy (Venema) Nederveld from Jenison, Michigan, on March 9, 1996.
Ben taught Sunday School at Stonebridge Church for 13 years. Ben and his wife Judy were the Directors of the Positive Christian Singles for 10 years at Stonebridge. At Gateway Church they led the Soaring Solo Singles for 10 years. He loved being a Greeter at Gateway and at North Shore Alliance Church in North Fort Myers in Florida. He was a member of both churches. He served in the United States Air Force from 1963-1966 and was stationed in Thailand. He was the owner of Findlay Body Shop for 36 years.

Mitchell III, Ethan J. Mitchell, Hailey (Joel) Altena, Tess DeJong, Ridge DeJong, Easton DeJong, Amanda (Craig) Carpenter, and Kristina Nunez; brother, Ted (Carol) Mitchell of Columbus, Ohio; sisters: Rebecca (Ken) Paulen of Clearwater, FL, and Roberta Culver of Findlay; brother and sister-in-law: J. Marlin and Jean Venema and Jim and Hilda Cruz from Marion, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Wayne Venema; and son-in-law, Tony Nunez.
