Obituary for Mr. Dennis Holmes
Dennis Holmes is the eldest son of Ceil and Dora Swain Holmes born on
August 24, 1956 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The journey began on Juneteenth Day in 1978. My friend; Cookie and
I went to the store to get some items. On the way back" a car pulled up and
Charles, her friend called her and this other guy got out the car and we started
talking. We all went up to Cookie's house and listening to our favorite songs.
One I remembered was, "I Could Never Love Another After Loving You", by
the Temptations. We talked a little longer, but he had to go to get some rest
before going to work. A few months later, we moved in with each other and
then on January 20, 1979 our first child, Paul was born; later our second child
Paulette was born on December 12, 1980. On August 3, 1982, we got married
never parting.until his departure on Friday, March 17, 2017.
Dennis attended primary school at Lloyd Street and Washington High
School, both in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating, he worked for
William Johnson, as a Custodial Worker. He held the same positions at Red
Carpet and Brookfield Library. His last position was at Ford Motors as a
Shuttle Driver.
Denni~ had a bubbly personality, and as you know, talked LOUD!! In the
. summer he always enjoyed inviting Godfrey and George over for a cookouts,
