Edwin F. “Eddie” Watson, age 85, of Brownwood, passed away Tuesday evening, December 24, at his home. He was born September 29, 1934 in Boswell, Oklahoma, the son of Robert J. and Flora Taylor Watson. Following his graduation, he married Ova Jenneane Simpson in Snyder, Texas on June 26, 1955. He served in the U. S. Army from 1957 until 1959. He had been a resident of Brownwood since 1970 and was an active member of the Austin Ave. Church of Christ. He was an active member of the Bangs Masonic Lodge # 926 serving as Worshipful Master in 1992 and 1994. He served as District Grand Master in 1997 and was awarded the Golden Trowel Award from his lodge. He was a past president of the Texas State Suez Oriental Band Association and a member of the local Suez Oriental Band. He was a past Potentate in 2002 and a member of the Provast Guard. His hobbies included hunting and fishing and especially going to Colorado to hunt elk. He also loved bowling and won a state trophy. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He is survived by his two daughters, Shannon Lea McShan and husband Pat of Brownwood and Jessica Lynn Staton and husband Paul of Brownwood, six grandchildren, Erica Negrete and husband Adrian of Burleson, Jake Staton ad wife Jenna of Midland, Chase McShan and wife Dana of Midland, Grady Staton and wife Kirsten of Midland, Vance McShan and wife Shandi of Midland and Chandler and Matthew Lewis of College Station, and ten great-grandchildren, Jared, Kayden, Christian, Parker, Caleb, Gwyneth, Riley, Adriana, Perry, and Piper. He is also survived by a sister, Flo Caldwell and husband Horace of Donna, Texas and a brother, Clark Watson of Red Oak, Texas and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jenneane in 2014 and two sisters, Joy and Shirley. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 28, in the Davis-Morris Funeral Chapel with his son-in-law, Paul Staton officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park.
