OBITUARY FOR FOSTER ORVILLE WILLIAMS

Foster O. Williams, son of Thompson E. and Martha (Osborn) Williams died at his home Wednesday, April 20, 1994 at the age of 97. He was born in Sac City, Iowa Sept. 13, 1896 and spent his early years near Bloomingdale, Indiana., coming to Michigan in his early 20s. He married Hilda Brown from Parke County, Indiana. on May 29, 1921 (in St. Johns, MI), and they have shared life for almost 73 years.
Mr. Williams was a veteran of World War I, and a farmer all of his life living on the present farm in Bengal Township since 1930. He joined the Bengal United Brethren Church, now the Pilgrim United Methodist Church, on June 3, 1934, transferring from the Bloomingdale Friends Church, and has been a faithful and active layman ever since that time.
He was a delegate to four General Conferences: 1950 in Dayton, Ohio, 1954 in Milwaukee, 1966 in Chicago, and 1968 in Dallas, which was the Uniting Conference of the Evangelical United Brethren and Methodist Churches. He also went on three work missions in Haiti.
Foster was a trustee of the Otterbein Home, a benevolent home of the Church at Lebanon, Ohio for 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Hilda; three sons, Malcolm (Margaret) of Minden City, Mich., Howard (Eleanor) of St. Johns, and Myron (Maudy) of Wyoming, Mich.; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 22 at the Pilgrim United Methodist Church with burial at Mt. Rest Cemetery, Pastor Larry Shrout officiating.
Memorials may be made to the Pilgrim United Methodist Church or Hospice of Clinton County.
Arrangements were made by the Osgood Funeral Home in St. Johns.
