Born July 9, 195, in Holden, he was the son of the late Lawerence and Lahoma Jonas Finley.
David was also preceded in death by his first wife, Sheila Finley and his second wife, Rhoda Finley.
David was veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp, which he obtained the rank of Sergeant. He joined the Marine Corp League and later became the Commandant of the Danny M Greene Marine Corp League Detachment #577. He was also a member of The Devil Dogs. David was a driver for UPS for 32 Years before retiring and a member of the Teamsters Local Union #505.
David loved people and loved to make them laugh, he never met a stranger. He would talk to anybody anywhere. He was a great mentor to many people and was a very giving person and would donate to various charities and organizations. His greatest loves were his family and the Marine Corp. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include one daughter, Stacey (Geoffrey) Finley-Mietzner; brothers, Doug (Eleanor) Finley, Walter Finley and Louie Finley; sisters, Pam Tomblin and Phyllis (Cecil) Hall; one uncle, Lesley Finley; several nieces and nephews; a lifelong, friend, Melody and of course, his dog, Sophie, his travel companion.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 28, 2019, at 11:00 AM at Honaker Funeral Home in Logan, with Rev Donnie Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens where Military Funeral Honors will take place.
Friends may call on the family on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 6:00 - 9:00 at the funeral home.
