Laverne was reared in Cartersville, Virginia and attended the Cumberland County Public School in Cumberland, Virginia. She was also a graduate of Kee Business College, Richmond, Virginia.
At an early age, she was baptized and joined the Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Cartersville, Virginia. She later moved her membership to the Little Zion Baptist Church in Powhatan Virginia with her Dad and then she moved to Fredericksburg Virginia and she found her church home at Mount Zion Baptist Church Fredericksburg, Virginia under the leadership of Pastor Charles Wormley.
"Verne" was employed by the United States Postal Service for 15 +years in Woodbridge, Virginia, until her retirement. She held the office of Secretary/Treasurer for Local #521 in Woodbridge, Virginia for 5 years.
At the Mount Zion Baptist Church Laverne wore a few hats. She was a devoted member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church Usher Ministry; serving two terms as President and was presiding president before her death. She served as an active and faithful worker on the Mount Zion Baptist Church Missionary Ministry and Children's Ministry at Mount Zion Baptist Church.
She was an active and proud lover of the Dallas Cowboys for several years. "How 'bout them Cowboys" was her motto.
She enjoyed making afghans, going on trips with her girlfriends and family
going out to eat and enjoyed and lover her church family.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, a loving and devoted mother Ms. Fannie H. Robinson, Second Mother, Vernell Garris; 2 Sisters Angela Booker, (Larry, Sr.), Valerie Ayers (James), 1 Brother James Edward Robinson, Jr.: 1 Nephew Larry Booker, Jr.; 1 Niece Deyjah Z. Robinson; 3 Aunts Marguarite Mason, Elaine Jackson James and Audrey Ann Jackson; a Devoted Companion Larry Ford, and other relatives and friends.
