Ellen Sartain, 94, of Kansas City, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 1, 2021 at her daughter-in-law’s home in Blue Springs, Missouri. She was born on August 15, 1926 in Hickory Hill; a daughter of the late Charles and Earsey (Brand) Emmerich. Ellen was united in marriage on May 9, 1946 to James Sartain, who preceded her in death on January 29, 1986.
Ellen attended Cole County Schools. She was a dedicated wife and mother who stayed home and took exceptional care of her children. Ellen did work part-time as a cashier for various stores after the children went off to college. She enjoyed gardening and caring for her flowers. Ellen was one who liked to be outdoors getting her feet dirty. She enjoyed an occasional margarita and dancing. Ellen cherished the times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by daughters-in-law: Carol Sartain and Mary Sartain; grandsons: Brian Sartain (Michelle), Tim Sartain (Magali), Jim Sartain and Mike Sartain (Tracy); seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons: Harley Sartain and Ron Sartain; several brothers and sisters and granddaughter: Alicia Sartain.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Enloe Cemetery in Russellville, Missouri.
