Brent Foster Shelton, age 80, of St. Johns, MI, went to his eternal resting place on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes - Osgood Chapel, St. Johns at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, with Rev. Fr. Michael Williams presiding. Burial will take place at a later date at Mt. Rest Cemetery, St. Johns, MI. Visitation will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes – Osgood Chapel, St. Johns, Michigan, on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 2-8 P.M. with family present from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home with a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M.

Brent was born November 4, 1942, in Ann Arbor, MI, the younger son of John Orson and Agnes Veronica (Mynning) Shelton. He graduated from St. Thomas High School, Ann Arbor, MI, with the class of 1961, where he was active in sports and served as class president all four years. He earned Bachelors Degree in Science from Eastern Michigan University and a Master's Degree in Natural Science from Michigan State University.

On September 4, 1965, Brent married Marie Therese Anglim at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Ann Arbor, MI. They were blessed with nearly thirty-nine years of marriage and four children prior to her passing on July 4, 2004. On March 17, 2007, he married Mary Frances Rainsford at St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Johns, MI. They were blessed with fifteen wonderful years of marriage.

Brent taught Anatomy/Physiology at Ferris State University and Saginaw Valley State University for many years. He then worked for GM as a Production Supervisor for twenty-seven years, retiring in 2004. He was an active local leader in Alcoholics Anonymous and had the privilege of helping many others. He was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Johns KofC #3281, and was a Vincentian with St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Johns.

He loved crossword puzzles, reading and U of M Football, "Go Blue!". He enjoyed spending time with Mary outdoors taking care of the yard, trees, and the resulting bonfires.

Brent is survived by his wife Mary, son Brent (Becky) Shelton II of Westland, MI; two daughters: Stephanie Shelton of Ovid, MI; and Bridgette Shelton of Phoenix, AZ; two grandsons: Jacob and Jack Nichols; his brother Preston (Ann) Shelton of Maryland; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Marie, infant daughter Meaghan, and son Lucas Christian Shelton.
