Reverend Julius Campbell, 92, of Spotsylvania County, went home to be with his Lord on Monday, December 23, 2019.

He was born December 18, 1926 in Hazard, Kentucky to Malvie and Woolery Campbell. Julius was the youngest boy of eight children. His parents were farmers and he loved to help his parents with the farm. Julius and his future wife attended the same small school, and their families were friends for years before they started dating.

As a young man, he loved playing baseball. The local towns would have games against each other that he enjoyed greatly. He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.

Julius married his wife, Ginny in Hyden, Kentucky on April 9, 1949 and they had four children. They raised their children in Kentucky and during this time, Julius worked in the coal mines. They moved to Ohio in 1964 and Julius started a new career in landscaping. After a few years, the landscaping company relocated to Virginia, so Julius and the family came as well. He was most proud of the work he did for C.D. Hylton in Prince William County for over 30 years.

After retirement, Julius and Ginny moved to Spotsylvania, and Julius found his true calling, preaching the word of the Lord. He evangelized for a few years, and eventually formed a Pentecostal Church in Spotsylvania County. They also spent time travelling back to Kentucky to minister to people there as well. He was very dedicated to his church and its members.
Julius was always a hard worker and that quality continued throughout retirement. He loved to mow his grass, tend to his garden and be outside working in any way.

Reverend Campbell is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Virginia “Ginny” Campbell; three children, Wade Campbell (Donna), Faron Campbell (Kathy), and Maggie Campbell; ten grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, with an additional two great-great grandchildren on the way; numerous nieces and nephews; and other loving extended family.

He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Julius W. “Jay” Campbell; and his seven siblings.

Julius’ love and guidance will be deeply missed by friends and family.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29, 2019 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapels, 10719 Courthouse Road, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
