DEATH OF MRS. JAMES
Pioneer Fremont Woman Among Settlers of 1869.
Mrs. Nancy J. James, wife of Evan James, a well known pioneer Fremont woman, died at 10:30 last night. Mrs. James had resided in Fremont since 1869. She was born June 17, 1843, at Richmond, Ill.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Free Methodist church and burial will be at Ridge cemetery.
Mrs. James’ maiden name was Nancy J. Hatcher. She was married in Illinois, July 22, 1858, to Orzo Haven, with whom she came west in 1869. Mr. Haven bought land. The couple raised a large family, sharing the life of Fremont’s pioneer residents. Mr. Haven died three years ago.
The surviving children are six sons, Platte and Riley, residing in Fremont; Harry, at Albion; M. Haven, of Norfolk; Edgar, Tekamah, and Bruce, of Ekalaka, Mont. All ecepting Bruce will be present at the final services.
Mrs. James for many years was a faithful member of the First Methodist church, but lately had turned her activities to the Free Methodist organization in which her husband, Evan James, is prominent. Her marriage to Mr. James took place last June.

Funeral of Mrs. James – The funeral of Mrs. Evan James was held at the Free Methodist church yesterday at 10 a.m., the services being attended by a large crowd of friends. The Rev. F. E. White, pastor of the church, officiated. The bearers were five sons, Edgar Haven, of Tekamah; Mandeville, of Norfolk; Harry, of Albion; Platte, of Fremont, and grandson, Lloyd Haven, of Fremont. Burial was at Ridge cemetery.
