Richard "Dick" G. Case December 22, 2019 Richard "Dick" Giles Case, 84, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2019. He was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and longtime writer for the Post Standard\Herald Journal. Dick earned his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University, graduate degree from Cooperstown Graduate Program and was a member of the Syracuse Press Club. Before entering into his career he served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He also enjoyed his time teaching at the S.I. Newhouse School where he taught military photo journalism. Throughout his life, Dick was an avid community volunteer and will be missed by many. He is predeceased by his parents, Newton and Margaret Case, as well as his brother, Edward "Bill" Case. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sandra (Reagan) Case; daughters, Elizabeth Case, and Laurel (Mick Brennan) Case; grandson, Ruairi Brennan; his son, Jonathan Case and several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held on Saturday December 28, 2019 at 10 am at the Edward J. Ryan & Son Funeral Home, 3180 Bellevue Ave. The family will receive friends and relatives Friday, December 27, 2019 from 4pm-7pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to the CNY SPCA, 5878 E Molloy Rd, Syracuse, NY 13211 or to a charity of your choice. Please share condolences at edwardjryanandson.com
