Sharon Marie Horning Robbins was born in S yracuse, New York on October 27, 1938.
Sharon was the daughter of Robert H and Leta Tilton. She had one sister Patricia Lumley. She was an aunt to four nieces. She married Ray Robbins in 1959. They had 3 children . Mark Robbins, Lynn Robbins Boyd and Nancy Robbins Fairchild. She had 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. After graduating from Syracuse she moved to Syracuse to attend Bryant and Stratton Business School. She met her husband while attending school. They moved to Parish in 1965 to the home they built and raised their children.
After her children were attending school, she went to work at Fay's Drug Store in Mattydale. She worked in the store office as an office clerk, put up stock and also ran register. It was the perfect job for her. She loved to talk to the customers and there wasn't a baby or child she could resist. She retired after 30+ years of service. She was a member of the Parish Historical Society and was instrumental in appropriating funds to replace the roof on the town gym. Sharon enjoyed the country life. She was an avid bird watcher, feeding them year around. She was also a crack shot with a shotgun. She always had various flower gardens. She made pickles and canned fruits and veggies in the Fall. She and dad both loved to fish. They would go to the Farmers Market in Oswego each year. After walking around the market and having a bit to eat, Dad would fish off the wall and mom would net his catch. In early years, every summer we would cram the 5 of us into a small truck camper and head to the North Country. It was one of my fondest memories. Lynn seemed to get a headache at the mere mention of camping. They both loved a good garage sale. Mom would have a garage sale just to socialize. She loved to crochet and knit and made a lot of our school clothes.
She attended the Presbyterian Church in Parish since she was a child. The church had a station wagon that would pick up the local children and take them to Sunday school every Sunday. It is only fitting to have her final services there.
If there was one word to describe Sharon, it would have been generous. She was always willing to help in any way she could.Toward the end of her journey, all she wanted to do was to go home. She is now home and reunited with all those who passed before her including her husband Ray Robbins who passed in Sept. 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday Dec 30, 2019 from the New Hope Presbyterian Church, 814 Rider St, Parish, NY. Spring interment will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery.
