Jameal A. Kahalley, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, died Sunday at a local hospital. He was 84.
Kahalley was a native of Bay Minette and a resident of Mobile. He was a member of the Red Elephant Club, a mystic organization, Abba Temple Shrine and was on the board of Wilmer Hall. He actively supported the Mulherin Retarded Children's Home and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. He served on the Vestry and as senior warden at St. John's Episcopal Church. Kahalley founded the VIP Tour Club, Lebanese American Club of Mobile and was president of the Southern Federation of Syrian Lebanese American Clubs.
Survivors include his wife, Sondra Boykin Kahalley of Mobile; two daughters, Laura Kahalley Megginson and Diana Kahalley Nichols, both of Mobile; one son, Paul Jameal Kahalley of Cleveland; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 tonight at Radney Belmany Funeral Home on Grelot Road. The funeral is set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Episcopal Church on Government Street. Burial will be in Bay Minette Cemetery.
