Peter A. Sams, age 62, of Wilmington, passed away Sunday evening, December 22, 2019 at his home with his wife by his side. He was born July 25, 1957 in Morrow, Ohio, the son of the late Oscar C. and Betty (Brill) Sams. Peter was a member of Faith Family Church, and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and especially loved hunting mushrooms. He enjoyed gardening, serving at Our Father’s Kitchen, serving the Emmaus Community, and was an avid follower of the Green Bay Packers. He is survived by his wife Sharon Sams, together for nearly 25 years; five children, Joshua Sams of Wilmington, Corey (Ashton) Sams of Clarksville, Chad Reynolds of Wilmington, Nikki (Matt) Estep of Wilmington and Ryanne Sams Hempshire; grandchildren, Wyatt, Taylor, Leann, Samantha, Noah, and Jasmin; four sisters, Pamela (Joe) Lane, Lucinda (Jim) Hough, Marilyn Jacober, and Cheryl Stowe; three brothers, Jerry (Myrna) Sams, Alan (Rona Kay) Sams, and Richard Sams; and good friend Dave Shutts. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Peter Logan Sams in 2008; sister Marla Schweikhart; and one brother, Charles Ben Sams. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 27, 2019 at Brown Funeral Home, Wilmington. Burial will follow in Clarksville Cemetery, where Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post 49 Honor Guard. Visitation will be held Friday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
