Jonathan Paul "J. P." Clark, 38, died Monday, December 23, 2019 at his home.

A lifetime resident of this area, J. P. was born on August 8, 1981 to Vernon "Dooley" Clark and the late Anna Laura Reed Clark. He attended Rhea County High School, where he excelled in sports. J.P. loved music and loved to debate politics with family and friends. He was also a history buff. J. P. had a way with younger children and enjoyed spending time with them. He prided himself by being a potential organ donor, so he could help others. J.P. was a member of the Spring City Church of Christ.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents Norma Evans, Ray Reed and Ervin and Barbara Clark.

J.P. grew up living with his uncle Darrell Reed and later included Darrell's wife Jessica and their son Colton. Other survivors include his sister Gretchen (Ringo) Long of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, nieces Chloe and Kelsey Long, nephew Nick Long and other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral services are Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 2:00 pm atthe Spring City Church of Christ. Interment will follow in the Johnson Stand Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday one hour before the service at Spring City Church of Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Jude Research Center at stjude.org.
