Bobby Lee Grimes, Jr., 66, of 311 South Broad Street, Apt. 1, Edenton, NC, died Friday, December 20, 2019, while playing golf with his buddies.
Bobby was born in Forsyth County on April 10, 1953, and was the son of the late Bobby Lee Grimes, Sr. and Peggy Ann Cox Grimes. A retired electrician from the Elizabeth City Coast Guard Base, he was an avid golfer, and will best be remembered by locals for roaming Broad Street, going restaurant to restaurant and store to store, checking on clerks and customers alike with a friendly smile, a little joke, and a twinkle in his eye.
Surviving are his sister, Marcia Sachs of Atkinson; his brother, Anthony “Andy” Grimes (Denise) of Little Elm, TX; four nieces, Tamra King (Brian), Courtney Grimes, Heather Bland (Shawn), and Kimberly Sanders (Brad); and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A gathering for family and friends will be held on Sunday, December 29th, from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Edenton Coffee House, 302 S. Broad Street, where smiles, and jokes, and stories will be shared.
