The autopsy suggests that McDonald was killed around Wednesday or Thursday, June 7 or 8, and last known reports confirm she was seen in Fort Oglethorpe on June 7 around 12:09 p.m.
Nothing appeared to be missing from the residence except possibly a checkbook. The victim’s Ford Explorer was still in the driveway.
After her death, numerous checks written on McDonald’s account started showing up. Investigators suspect that whoever befriended and killed McDonald was using the proceeds from the stolen checks to support their vices.
