James Crockett “Jim” Bourne, age 91 of the Gratton community in Tazewell, VA passed away Sunday, December 22, 2019 at his home. James lived his entire life in the Gratton area of Tazewell County. He was the youngest of six children born to Jesse “Perky” Bourne and Hattie Hagy Bourne. James worked numerous years at National Electric Coil and was co-owner of Dyna Pump & Electric Company before retirement. He was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church at Gratton, VA and a seventy year plus member and past Master of the Tazewell Masonic Lodge #62 AF & AM. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Christal Young Bourne; two newborn children, Anna and Gerry; two sisters and three brothers. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his daughter, Wilma Colley and husband, Bob of Tazewell, VA; grandson, Rob Colley and wife, Heather of Bristol, VA; several nieces and nephews in addition to cat, Gracie Mae.
His family is extremely grateful for wonderful caregivers, Peggy Webb, Jane Hurd, niece, Carol Kitts, and former caregiver, Angie Howell. Much appreciation is expressed for the medical services of Dr. Pablo Carpio and staff, Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital, and Carilion Home Health. Many thanks for years of superior care from Dr. Stephen Rinehart and staff.
Private Masonic graveside rites and burial will be conducted at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at Gratton, VA with Pastor Rodney Lawson officiating.
