Jeffrey Steven Rodgers, 58, of Hartford, Illinois passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Alton Memorial Hospital in Alton.

He was born May 8, 1961 in Highland, Illinois, a son of the late William Harley and Anna Lucille (Cruse) Rodgers.

He married the love of his life, Brenda Kay (Hickman) Rodgers on September 29, 1979 in Collinsville and she survives.

He was the owner and operator of Steve’s Painting for the last seven years and prior had worked for BMF painting in Maryville for twelve years and took much pride in his work.

Steve had a passion for music and was an avid fan of classic rock and loved playing the guitar. He enjoyed collecting guitars and had an extensive collection of music. He loved Harley Davidson and loved the freedom on the road. Steve and Brenda loved their many rides to Grafton or hanging out with friends at many various venues. He enjoyed his days of hunting and fishing, always talking with someone and never met a stranger. As he is riding in Harley Heaven, he will be sorely missed by his family and many friends he leaves behind.

In addition to his beloved wife of 40 years, he is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Nicole Rodgers of Hartford; four grandchildren, Nathan Lee Rodgers, Alissa Nicole Rodgers, Brooke Demore and Anna Bundy; eight siblings and spouses, William and Vicki Rodgers of Moro, Randy Rodgers of Alton, Deb Gardner of Greenfield, Eric and Lisa Rodgers of Tennessee, Tim and Shaun Rodgers of Cerro Gordo, Illinois, Todd and Melissa Rodgers of Decatur, Pam Lindsay of Decatur and Susan Rodgers of Decatur; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Beverly Klein of Sorento, Barb and Doug Schaufelberger of Greenville and James “Ed” Hickman of Donnellson; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his cherished son, Gary Lee Rodgers.
