DYER, CARL - age 97 passed away March 15, 2011 at Life Care of Jefferson City, Tn.

He was born July 4, 1913 in Knox County.

Carl was a veteran of WWII who saw action on the island of Iwo Jima, Japan.

He was a member of Wooddale Freewill Baptist Church of Knoxville but recently attended Oakland Baptist Church of Rutledge.

He is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Pearl Dyer; wife of 71 years Edna Wolfenbargar Dyer; granddaughter, Deborah Thorpe; sisters, Della Watson, Ada Acuff, Gladys Dyer, & Hazel Merritt; brothers, Lester, & Ondus Dyer.

He is survived by daughter Beulah Sharp; sons, Jackie Dyer and wife Joann, Jerry Dyer and wife Mary; seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren; sister, Opal Masterson; special brother and sister-in-law Herbert Roy and Lorene; numerous nieces and nephews.

He will be sadly missed by both the Dyer and Wolfenbarger families and special brother-in-law Fred Harding.

As Carl's children we wish to express our special heartfelt thanks to the care givers and staff of Life Care Center for the love and tender care given our Dad. Dad was very happy with the love and care he received at Life Care.

Services will be Saturday 3-19-2011 with visitation beginning at 12:00pm at Highland South Chapel. Funeral service 1:00pm with Reverend Stacy Lawson officiating. Burial will follow the service with Reverend Oliver Wolfenbarger officiating at Highland South Memorial Park.
