David Hunt Corley Celebration of life for David Hunt Corley will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at the Pineville High School Auditorium with the Rev. Glen Whatley officiating. Mr. Corley, age 70, of Pineville, passed away on July 12, 2013 in his home. David was born on February 24, 1943 to Nellie Hunt Corley and Robert A Corley, Jr., at the old Baptist Hospital in Alexandria which is now Rapides Regional Medical Center. During his younger years he was active in all sports but came into his own at Pineville High School in 1960 when the football team won the state championship. After graduating he went to Louisiana College on a football scholarship where he played 4 years. He then went to Louisiana Tech and then on to Marietta, Georgia where he attended Southern Technical Institute graduating with an associate degree in Gas Fuels Technology and Air Conditioning Technology. David served his country during the Vietnam war by joining the Navy Seabees which was a construction arm of the Navy. He was stationed in California and spent 8 months in Okinawa, being discharged in 1969 when he joined the family business, Corley Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Co., Inc. He was very active in the Local and National Association of Plumbing Heating & Cooling Contractors which he joined in 1975. He was a member of The Gathering Place Church in Lee Heights. David's passion was the Raven Ministry which falls under the leading of the Alpha and Omega Ministries. The Raven Ministry feeds about 20 people during the week. The meals are delivered to people who may not be able to fix their own meals. David worked to help the ministry get approval from the Board of Health so that they would be able to get food from the the food bank, expanding the number of people they could feed. David was an Estimator for his family's plumbing, heating and air conditioning business. He and his brother Bob took over the business then later sold out to Bob's sons. He continued to work until they closed the business in 2008. David then retired but continued being a consultant for Peacher Plumbing until his death. He was an active member of the National, Louisiana and Alexandria Association of Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors since 1975. David was a very giving person so he donated his body to science in order that they may learn something that might help someone else. He was preceded in death by his father R.A. Corley, Jr., mother, Nellie Hunt Corley and grandson Thomas Andrew Peltier. Survivors include his wife Mary Lewis Corley; daughters Amy Corley Bergeron (husband, Ken) and Andrea Corley Brown (husband, Jim); brother Robert A Corley, Jr.; sister, Mary Nell Corley King; grandchildren Madeleine Peltier and Benjamin Brown. Friends may call at the Auditorium between 9:00 a.m. -10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, his family would like donations sent in his memory to the Alpha and Omega Ministries at The Gathering Place Church, 2928 Shreveport Hwy., Pineville, La. 71360.
