John Braffet was born about 1823 in New York. He was possibly the son of William Wiban Braffett and Mary Vangelder. He probably died sometime between 1880 and 1883, probably in Pennsylvania. His burial location is uncertain.

A Mrs. Braffet is listed on the 1875 land ownership map for Callicoon, Sullivan County, New York. This may be the same 150 acres listed in John Braffet's entry in the 1870 Callicoon agricultural census.

Spouse: Sarah Morse (1827- ).
Spouse: Catharine Sperry (1856-1930).
