Edith Evelyn (Shirley) Martin, 91, of Hagerstown, MD, passed away at Coffman Nursing Home on December 21, 2019.
Born May 24, 1928 in Big Pool, MD to the late Samuel Lee and Icy Virginia (McIntyre) Shirley, Edith enjoyed traveling, spending time at her home on the Potomac river and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the VFW, Moose, Red Men and the American Legion. Edith, with her late husband, Harry C. “Buck” Martin, Sr., owned and operated Buck’s Bar and Grill in Hagerstown for over 20 years.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceded in death by her son, Harry C. Martin, Jr., her brother, Edwin Shirley, and her sisters Norma Carter, Doris Steadman, and Claris Shantz.
Edith is survived by her daughters, Susan M. O’Boyle, and her husband, Peter, of Hagerstown, MD, Carol A. Martin and her fiancé, Craig Bartles, of Hagerstown, MD, Bonny J. Elliott, and her husband, David, of Warrenton, VA, and Diane L. Martin of Sharpsburg, MD; her grandchildren Erin (Ryan) Murphy, Beth (Andrew) Fimka, Lauren (Matt) Bruderek, Michelle (Roger) Seal, Kelly Reburn, Emily (Jamus) Redman, Katie Elliott and Sam (Hayley) Elliott, 12 great grandchildren, her sister Jean Sanford of Georgia, many nieces and nephews and her extended family at Coffman Nursing Home.
Relatives and friends will be received on Friday, December 27, 2019 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Harman Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown, at which time a funeral service will be held. Interment to immediately follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Coffman Nursing Home, ℅ Activities Department - Jan Eccard, 1304 Pennsylvania Avenue, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
