Lucy was the daughter of Franklin J. "John Frank" Brown and Margaret A. Lambeth. Margaret was Cherokee, and it appears she was born in North Carolina, but we've been unable to find any more information about her other than birth and death dates.

Lucy Jane Brown married William J. Cowen and was the mother of 11 children. She was a strong woman but unfortunately succumbed to TB at the age of 56.

The family bible burned in a house fire shortly after 1900.
I just learned today that Lucy's husband Will got home as the fire was raging, just in time to pull her back from going back into the house to get more things. Shortly after that, a 5-gallon kerosene can exploded in the fire.
