Age 95, passed away peacefully in her home August 6, 2019. Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of Solomon and Jeannette Goodman. (Silver Cross Mother). One of four daughters, she graduated from Dalhousie University with an Honours B.A. and a Masters in Social Work. She received a gold "D" Dalhousie Award. It was at Dal that she met our Father, Dr. Sidney Chernin, fell in love and began their lives together until he passed away in 2006. They shared many adventures which included their love of travel, charitable endeavours, studying art and architecture and designing their beloved home on the Northwest Arm. She loved to entertain, hang out at the pool, play with Janet's dogs and adored her two grandsons and five great-grandchildren. Mother gave freely and gratefully to many charities she cared about and supported. She was a prolific Red Cross blood donor, contributed to the Girl Guides of Nova Scotia in honour of her sister Rose Goodman, the Heart Foundation, the Cancer Society, Hadassah Wizo, JNF Fund and many others. She and Daddy also liked to help anonymously. She was a fabulous cook and baker and loved to teach grammar, especially to Justin. Her Goodman/Pink family was important to her as well as the Chernins from Cape Breton. She had many loved and cherished nieces, nephews and cousins. She is survived by daughters, Elaine and her favourite son-in-law (Terry Keyes) and Janet; her beloved grandsons, Justin, Tokyo; and Shaun (Erin Keating), Halifax. She was blessed with five great-grandchildren who she loved so much, Lorenzo and Maxi Keyes, Tokyo; and Julia, Laura and Baby Elizabeth Elaine Keyes, Halifax. She was predeceased by her only son, Ian Chernin. Her gravesite service has been held, just as she wished. Donations gratefully accepted to the QEII Health Centre Foundation/Palliative Care. To her wonderful caregivers led by Terri Caille, Jean Grant and Linda Dowell, our most sincere thanks for all the love and care shown to her. Rest now Mom, Daddy is waiting for you.
