Roger Dale Spencer, age 69 of Meadow Lakes Drive, Charlotte, NC passed away Friday, December 20, 2019 at the Atrium Health Pineville surrounded by his family.
He was born December 28, 1949 in Thayer, WV a son of the late George Alvin Spencer and Charline Virginia (Sheppard) Spencer.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy Kay (Shipp) Spencer; one son, Joshua Spencer and wife Dana of Charlotte; one daughter, Ashley Spencer and husband John Duncan also of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Dru, Skylar, Jared, Sophia, and Jackson; three sisters, Trenia Amidi and husband Shahbaz of Greensboro, NC, Barbara Hays and husband Harold of Akron, OH, and Shelia Spencer also of Akron; two brothers, Paul Spencer and wife Tina of Youngstown, OH and Mike Dunbar and wife Brenda of Beckley, WV; his mother-in-law, Bonnie Shipp Tucker and husband Tom of Charlotte; two aunts, Wanda Lantz and Mae Stipe and husband Paul both of Grafton; one uncle Pete Boblett of Beckley, WV; six brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Randy and Charles Spencer; his father-in-law, Ralph Shipp, Sr.; one brother-in-law, Mike and one sister-in-law, Debbie.
Roger was a self-employed contractor and painter.
He was a loving husband, father, a great Pap-paw, and friend to many.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Friday, December 27th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.
Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 12:00 noon.
Interment will follow at the Woodsdale Memorial Park Cemetery.
