Funeral Services for Roy Thomas Patterson age 79 of Ashland will be held on Monday, December 23, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at Benefield Funeral Home of Ashland with Rev. Wade Price and Rev. Jim Arnall officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.
Mr. Patterson was born in Talladega County but had lived for most of his life in Clay County. He was widely known for his skills in construction, brick and tile work and had worked for over 30 years as an Industrial Maintenance Contractor with his company Patterson Construction. After his retirement he and his wife Ann loved to travel, he also enjoyed playing golf and having visitors, especially if they would bring him a treat. Mr. Patterson was a member of the Ashland Masonic Lodge #356 F & AM.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Ann M. Patterson of Ashland, two sons; Wendell Patterson (Jana) and Alan Patterson (Cindy) of Ashland, one sister; Patricia McCormick of Lineville, four grandchildren; Jacob, Josh, Jeb and Cole Patterson and one Great-Granddaughter; Maci Pope, also two special nieces, April Butler and Amber Mathew.
He was preceded in death by parents: Thomas and Ruth Williams Patterson, one daughter; Jennifer Ann Patterson, one granddaughter; Briana Leigh Patterson and two sisters; Betty Sue Jackson, Billie Faye Tucker, one infant sister and one brother; Kenneth Patterson.
Active Pallbearers will be: Scott Mitchell, Brad Mitchell, Keith Faulkner, Greg Williams, Kelly Stroud, Jamie Brannock and Joey Brannock.
Honorary Pallbearers will be : Staff of Clay County Hospice and Wayne Cheatwood.
The family will receive friends on Sunday December 22, 2019 from 5:30 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland and until service time on Monday.
