CIVIL WAR VETERAN
Benjamin was in the Civil War. Sept 22, 1862, Benjamin Brockett was mustered in as first lieutenantin Company I, 87th Regiment, Illinois Volunteers. In March 1863,he was made captain. He saw much hard service during the Civil War, and was greatly loved by the men in his company. On account of failing health he resigned Dec. 10, 1863, and left the army with great reluctance.

Moved to Kansas after the Civil War.

Judge of the Probate Court for eight years.
