Richard Bennett (By legend b:in 1784 or earlier etc, not by fact. He was abt 95 not 109 when he died. I put back the correct approx yr of birth, no records give any exact date.(Please do not change it again.) son of Elisha and Lucy Cason Bennett, came to be known to family, friends, and his community as "Uncle Dick" Bennett and so I have him in my Family Trees, he was as far as can be known, the eldest son and child of Elisha and Lucy who married on 23 Nov 1797 in Prince Edward Co, VA. He was also the eldest brother of my paternal gr gr grandfather Oliver H (Hampton in my trees based on 5 known namesakes, others chose "Hughes" and stuck in into the names of other family members where it never occurred. A BENNETT none the less and even if that middle name is 'in dispute' he remains the same person. There are other known siblings two brothers Watson "Watt" (probably Joab Watson as his nephew the eldest son of Richard was his namesake, and went so far as later to borrow his birth year as Richard "Uncle Dick" borrowed his uncle Richard's for whom he was also namesake)and James. I have found a number of records on Watson, but still trying to pin down James (James and BENNETT being such common names makes it harder, and no family knowledge except his given name) and there were also sisters Permellia "Milly" (Bennett) Porter, a Margaret (still researching her) and younger 1/2 sisters named Nancy Jane (Bennett) McCowan, and Geneva records on them, but also might be others and at least 1 younger 1/2 brother. Richard just "Uncle Dick" after this married Sarah Day on 23 Nov 1823 (his parent's anniversary also) in Prince Edward Co, VA. His 1st son Joab Watson Bennett was born in 1824 or 25 in either Prince Edward Co, VA or in Monroe Co, KY as Richard and his family are on the 1830 US Fed Census in Monroe Co, KY. as they were again in 1840. They had moved to Pulaski Co, MO by 1845 where their youngest two children were born both before 1850 as that is were the family was in residence on the 1850 US Fed Census. By 1860 they had moved to Barry Co, MO (just north of Benton Co, Arkansas where "Uncle Dick" and several of his offspring lived (Joab Watson moved to, married and lived out his life in Mt Vernon, Lawrence Co, MO and died there in 1896) and he "Uncle Dick" died in Rogers, Benton, Arkansas on 02 May 1893 as per the date above etc. His wife Sarah was on the 1860 Fed Census, but must have died by 1870 as she was not in the household by then. I am still searching for her death record. I could mention the write up about "Uncle Dick" being the Oldest citizen of Benton Co, Arkansas and so on, but as it is clear by the approx birth date I have put on this memorial record for him, and in my own family trees (and many others have also after looking at the many records on him and his family (I doubt he was born when his own father was 6-7 yrs old etc). I leave off that account. Lilly B
