Diana Vier Shelton, 79, Hopkinsville, died at 3:20 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019, at St. Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home with the Revs. David Tucker and Greg Giltner officiating. Burial will follow in Powell Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A native of Trigg County, she was born Jan. 31, 1940, the daughter of the late Major Vier Sr. and Willie Ezell Vier.

She was a mine account manager at Peabody Coal Co. and later Patriot Coal Co. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and involved with the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club Ladies Golf Association.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cindy Smith; her siblings, Mary Joiner, Elizabeth Ann Stallons, Ruth Morris, Major Vier Jr., Bobby Vier and Johnny Vier.

Survivors include her husband of over 60 years, Shelah Shelton; her children, Cathy (Jeff) Osteen and Kenneth (Monica) Shelton, both of Hopkinsville; her son in law, Rick Smith, Lawrenceburg; and four grandchildren.
