Herbert Alden Day, the son of Arthur and Annie (Eggers) Day was born on February 11, 1926 at Montevideo, Minnesota. He grew up in Montevideo where he attended school through the 10th grade.
Herbert was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during World War II as a mechanic in Europe. He was honorably discharged on June 11, 1946. He worked for the Codington County Highway Department and retired to South Shore. On January 24, 1957 he married Beneda Lentz at Big Stone City, South Dakota. Herbert enjoyed traveling and reading.
Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Linden, Ihren and Arden; three sisters, Omah, Iris and Orva; and his nephew, Charlie Johnson.
He is survived by his children, Brian Day of Madison, SD, Mike (Christy) Day of Holmen, WI, Nancy Day of Sioux Falls, SD and Mark Day of Bruce, SD; his ex-wife, Beneda Lentz; four grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Helen Day of Montevideo, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
