Obituary for Louise Crawford

Louise Crawford, age 87 of Corydon passed away on December 19, 2019 at Wayne County Hospital.

Catherine Louise Letts was born on April 18, 1932 in Gillette, Wyoming to Edward and Mildred (Bair) Letts.

She grew up and attended school in Washington, Iowa. Growing up Louise did a lot of babysitting. Her father’s nickname for her was snorts, because when she laughed she would snort.

Louise was married to Richard Crawford on June 10, 1952 in Des Moines, Iowa at the Justice of Peace. To this union five children were born: Catherine, Kenny, Deb, Rick, and Brenda.

She worked at Jimmie’s Café as a cook for a while, and also worked in the housekeeping department at the Wayne County Hospital. She retired from the hospital in 2008 at the age of 75. Richard and Louise traveled around the whole United States together.

Louise (also known as Weezee by some of her family members) loved listening to country music, dancing, roller skating, sitting on her porch swing, reading, and sewing. She liked collecting knick knacks, stuffed animals and dolls; many of these were purchased when she was going to garage sales with her daughters.

She also enjoyed working with her flowers, coloring in her adult coloring books, going to drive in movies and she loved Sunday drives in the country. Louise enjoyed spending time visiting with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren, many of which she babysat over the years.

She is survived by her children: Catherine Keller (Stanley), Kenny Crawford, Deb Cleverley, Rick Crawford (Kim), and Brenda Crawford, 11 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, brothers: Dwight Letts (Dollie) and Darald Letts (Barb), sisters-in-law: Darlene Short and Janice Crawford, numerous extended family members and many friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Richard Crawford, brother, Roy Letts, grandson, Kyle Crawford, and great granddaughter, Kuryah Davis.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Corydon with Pastor Jim Resa officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 10-11 a.m. at Thomas Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the family and will be designated at a later date.
