SP4 US ARMYThomas Lee McGauley, 59, of Kingsland, died Saturday at his residence. Arrangements may be announced by the family. Cremation services were provided by Golden Isles Cremation Center/ Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home.

Thomas Lee McGauley Jr., fondly known as "Buckie," passed away July 27, 2019. Thomas was born Oct. 18, 1959, in Blackshear. He was educated in the Pierce County public school system. Shortly after graduating from high school, Thomas joined the United States armed services. He received an honorable discharge after three years in the army.

He moved to St. Marys and began working at Gilman Paper Company. He left Gilman and became a carpenter at the Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base. After leaving the base, Thomas started his own lawn care business and developed a strong customer base that he served until his health began to fail.

Thomas is preceded in death by his father, Thomas Lee McGauley Sr.; his mother, Mary Jean McGauley ; and his sister, Sabrina Paget.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted fiancée, Theresa A. Davis of Kingsland; two children, Christopher White of Alma and Nigel McGauley of White Oak; four sisters, Phynola Wright, Vaniece (David) Harris, Zelma Latson and Thomasine Ricks, all of Blackshear; two brothers, Ronald McGauley of Blackshear and Christopher McGauley of Atlanta; special friends, Willie Dunham, Booker T. Washington and Jimmy Geter; mentors, Hiram "Brown" Floyd and Charles Floyd; and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and special sorrowing friends.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at Georgia Avenue Church of God located at 740 N. Georgia St. in Kingsland.
