Roy “Boyce” Burgess, Sr. passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Boyce was born on January 27, 1937 in Burnsville, NC to the late Stanly Washington and Grace Preslar Burgess. He is also preceded in death by 9 brothers and sisters. Boyce was a truck driver for over 35 years and had retired from Overnight Transportation Company. He absolutely loved fishing and working on/painting old cars.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn “Sue” Burgess, of Kannapolis; daughter, Tammy Smith and husband Eric, of Concord; sons, Boyce Burgess, Jr. and wife Joy, of Gold Hill, Mike Burgess of Concord, Mark Burgess and wife Sarah, of Concord; sisters, Radie Clontz of Concord, Flora Mae Martin of Wadesboro; brother, John C. Burgess of China Grove; grandchildren, Daniel Smith and wife Wendi, Mackenzie Burgess, Hunter Burgess, Maddie Burgess; great-grandchildren, Peyton Smith and Jake Smith.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Boyce’s caregivers, Mary Bryant and Marilyn.
Memorials may be made to Crosspointe Baptist Church, 1175 Crosspointe Dr., Concord, NC 28025.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at Crosspointe Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Leon Hawks. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:45 pm prior to the service at church.
